Born in England, the artist settled in Australia in 1968 and continued his passion for artistic expression inspired by such masters as Vincent Van Gogh, Claud Monet, Turner and, many more. Recent inspiration and passion for watercolour impressionism arise from modern masters such as Joseph Zbukvic, Chien Chung Wei & Michael Solovyev.
Watercolour is a commanding mistress which, when truely understood, reveals incredible surprises as one paints. It can, and will, paint itself if left alone, creating happy accidents in conjunction with expressive atmospheric intentions. This is why Caib Kelly paints and why watercolour excites and continually challenges the artist to explore and refine this realm of modernist impressionism.
