Bianca- Christie Wano is a proud Bidjara (Aboriginal) and Meriam (Torres Strait Islands) woman born in Mt Isa, Queensland. Bianca grew up in Townsville with her strong kinships and learning from her Elders keeping culture strong.
Bianca had done alot of travelling around Australia and one of her most memorable experiences was living in a remote community in Alice Springs (Hermannsburg). After being invited to a women’s ceremonial dance Bianca was given the skin name, ‘Nungarai’.
Bianca settled in Brisbane back in 2013, and attended an Indigenous art group for people of the community. It was at that time Bianca started to work on mediums of canvas and acrylics. Her first painting was called, “Sunset Sunrise’” and was added into the art exhibition with the other artists artwork. Bianca’s style of artwork is a movement of dot paintings and lines in a range between bold and earthy colours.
Bianca had another art exhibition in the Northside of Brisbane in 2019 with a range of artworks. Bianca has sold some of her art at a homewares store in Paddington, Brisbane.
Bianca’s passion for her Indigenous art is influenced by her strong heritage as a First Nations Australian woman.
