I am an artist based in on the Gold Coast who has enjoyed painting from an early age using photos of my extensive travels as inspiration and I enjoy the fluidity of water colour and inks.
Art in all its forms has always interested me from an early age which then developed into a more serious pursuit when I enrolled in courses in drawing, painting, design and sculpture at the University of British Columbia, Canada whilst completing a BEd degree.
Photos and memories of my extensive travels around the world provide my main inspiration in addition to just allowing the free flow of paint on paper to stimulate my imagination encapsulating a wide range of visual effects, often in a semi abstract way for viewers to make individual interpretations. I particularly enjoy the fluidity and luminosity of water colours.
Living in Kenya in the 1990s provided spectacular scenery and many opportunities to paint which then led to several successful solo exhibitions at the Goethe Institute, British Council and Nairobi Safari Club. Many of my paintings are in private collections around the world.
I was very fortunate to be able to immigrate to Australia as an artist based on my portfolio of artwork. Family and teaching took precedence in the intervening years but I continued to complete a variety of art courses whenever possible.
My recent move to the Gold Coast, Qld from Perth in 2021 enabled me to focus exclusively on painting which is wonderful because I now have plenty of time to explore a variety of mediums including the abstract effects of water colours and alcohol inks on a variety of surfaces.
Becoming a member of the Royal Queensland Art Society has also provided an excellent opportunity to exhibit my work and meet local artists.
My focus in the future is to continue to explore a variety of mediums, colour relationships, movement and shapes as well as seeking opportunities to integrate , diversify and refine my artwork.
