Alan Morrison is a figurative artist working in portraiture, Illustration, landscape, abstract and mural projects. He focuses on detail mixed with rawer elements to take the feel away from photo realism, creating a more original work. Reading, delving a little deeper to see what story lies beneath. He has recently taken up oils after a 30 year break and is mixing technique with Acrylic.

Alan Morrison has worked extensively across a multitude of artistic disciplines including Illustration, Scenic painting, Mural and Fine Art.
A graduate from Glasgow School of Art, Alan has taught at various Colleges in London for 25 years including Chelsea School of Art and has mentored students in Brisbane since relocating to Australia in 2007.He has held numerous one man shows in London (11)and continues to exhibit in Brisbane (4). He has been a finalist in many awards recently including; Doug Moran Portrait Award, Mandorla Art Award, Bluethumb Art and Lethbridge Landscape Award.
During the 1980’s, Alan worked on a number of projects including works for the Scottish Opera in Glasgow and in London for the Ian Fleming Illustration Agency, gaining numerous commissions for brands such as 20th Century Fox, Royal Shakespeare Company, National Army Museum, Pioneer Music,BBC, Hawker Siddeley Aircraft, The Face, NME,Cosmopolitan and British Telecom to name a few.
Since then, his portrait of A. Celli which was a finalist in the John Player Portrait Award 1986 at the NPG in London where it gained praise from respected Art Critic Brian Sewell who described it as “animal intense portrayed in a way no photographer could match” He received multiple commissions after the show including painting a life size portrait of Matt Goss (Bros). Judas Priest portrait for album cover and work bought by Griff Rhys Jones.
In Scenic work he has worked on a number of large scale projects including Michael Jackson’s Dangerous Tour sets, Channel 5 (UK) Sunset Beach Tour, Brit Awards, Film Launches, London Fashion Shows and Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge Party for example.
He subcontracted work from a Specialist Decoration Company; DKT in the 90s working as a muralist in various properties throughout London depicting 17/18th century style mural work on walls and ceilings for Private Clients. this work also translated to International work such as Yacht mural work in the Netherlands and Ceiling Mural work in Prince Zabeels Palace in Dubai.
