The rhythms of joy is an original pastel artwork created in April 2018. The inspiration for the piece came from considering the concept of joy over the Easter period. My response was to express the feeling in an abstract manner using my favourite colours.
The colour palette features vibrant pinks, blues, purples, reds and white. Rich pastel lines were layered rhythmically across the paper in varying widths and intensities. Multiple, curved lines while simple in execution, form a deep and complex image. Fine, sharper lines contrast with thicker, lace like lines drawing the eye deep into the image.
The rhythms of joy is 39 cm wide by 27 cm high. With the provided neutral toned acid free matt board and backing, the size is 51 cm wide by 39.5 cm high. As with all pastels framing under glass is essential.
The rhythms of joy is one of a series of six abstract pastels, expressively exploring the concepts of joy, peace and love. All artworks in the series, were created using artist quality Rembrandt and Faber-Castell pastels on acid free Mi-Tientes paper.
This impact of this piece would be increased if it were to be hung with the depths of joy and, or the depths of love.
