Additional Information

This artwork, "Messier 64 - NGC 4526," is an original artwork that was created as part of a series of five oil paintings completed on canvas and oil paper. The artwork was created as a homage to Charles Messier the Astronomer who discovered 110 nebulae and star clusters. Since I was a young girl I’ve had a fascination with the universe. This love has only gotten stronger and in 2013 I became more aware of the cellular activity that is attached to all living things. This awareness has turned into an artistic interpretation and abstraction through dripping, mark-making and pouring. This artworks comments on the destruction that is ever present in life. Without that destruction there can be no evolution or reproduction. This should be something to embrace. It is exciting to be apart of a world that is forever changing and adapting. This artworks comments on the destruction that is ever present in life. This work is also a reference to the colour and chemical reactions prevalent in star clusters and galaxies. Artwork Information: The artwork is made from artist quality materials. It is an oil painting on Arches Oil Paper and is unframed for ease. It is A1 in size. This artwork was created by collecting and interpreting images of Messier object "Messier 64 - NGC 4526".
