Additional Information

Original surreal retro giant poisonous mushroom painting on high quality stretched canvas with Audrey Totter ready-to-hang with d-rings and picture wire. The inspiration for my paintings is the glamour and drama of Hollywood movies of the 1940s and 50s. These movies often used expressionist lighting and camera shots. I appropriate and transform the black and white publicity stills from the films by painting them in arbitrary colours, and placing them in incongruous and sometimes bizarre settings with giant carnivorous or poisonous plants, or with exotic animals such as snakes, macaws, leopards, tigers, and spiders.  I use acrylic paints, gels and mediums to create my paintings. Sometimes I create interesting textures and glossy or metallic surfaces. Forest Nightmare is a painting of Audrey Totter where she has been placed on the ground in a forest of giant poisonous mushrooms and leaf litter.  It seems out of place, creating a puzzle for the viewer to solve. Invest in an up-and-coming artist. I have been finalist for all the major Queensland prizes for the past few years - Lethbridge 10,000, Rotary Art Spectacular, Moreton Bay Art Awards, Noosa Art Award, Stanthorpe Art Prize. I have also exhibited at various Brisbane and Gold Coast galleries.
